It’s one of those “only Apple could...” things because Apple has taken time to build user trust and understanding of their business model. It’s all about making money from hardware, not user data.

- So we can trust them to help us find our lost devices, using clever cryptography so even Apple has no access to the device location information.
- We can trust them to provide a secure way to login to third party apps and websites, regardless of hardware platform, trusting that they won’t be logging the activity with a view to monetising it, nor hoovering up other information from our devices to store alongside the login information.
